Seminar on Yemeni-Chinese relations
The Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Yemen, in cooperation with the Messengers of Peace Organization, held a special symposium on Saturday to celebrate the 68th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Yemen and China, under the slogan "Yemen and China: 68 Years of Fruitful Relations."
Chinese Ambassador to Yemen Shao Qing welcomed the attendees, reviewing the depth of historical relations between the two countries, stressing that China is committed to supporting Yemen in various fields, and that it looks forward to more cooperation and partnership in order to achieve development and peace.
During the symposium, working papers were presented. The first paper, presented by Dr. Ibrahim Shami, Chairman of the Economic and Social Committee of the Consultation and Reconciliation Commission, reviewed the course of Yemeni-Chinese relations since their inception, as they witnessed continuous developments and growing cooperation in various fields, including the economy, infrastructure, education, and culture.
The symposium discussed in the second paper presented by economic expert Fares Al-Najjar the extent of the economic loss inflicted on Yemen and the Yemenis as a result of the war ignited by the Houthi militias against the Yemenis and the importance of urgent interventions, especially in light of the current challenges facing the region.
For his part, Najib Ghallab, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information, spoke in his third paper about the hoped-for role of China in Yemen for peace and development.
In his speech, the Executive Director of Messengers of Peace expressed his pride in partnering with the Chinese Embassy in this event, noting that the relationship between Yemen and China is an example to be emulated in international understanding and cooperation.
He also pointed out the major role played by China in supporting development and infrastructure projects in Yemen, stressing the importance of this partnership in building a bright future for the two peoples.
The symposium concluded with an interactive discussion session on ways to enhance Yemeni-Chinese relations and expand horizons of cooperation, where participants expressed their hope that these relations would continue to flourish to the benefit of the two friendly peoples.
