A young Palestinian man was killed by Israeli settlers who attacked the town of Jit, north of the occupied West Bank, on Thursday evening, setting fire to Palestinian homes and vehicles.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health reported, in a statement, that “a Palestinian martyr was killed and another Palestinian citizen was critically injured in the chest by settlers’ bullets.”
Palestinian sources reported that the martyr was the young man Rashid Abdul Qader Sedda (23 years old).
The Israeli army radio quoted a security source as saying that about 100 settlers stormed Jit and set fire to 4 houses and 6 cars, and threw stones and Molotov cocktails at residents and property there.
He explained that the attack "ended without any arrests, while a number (he did not specify) of Palestinians were injured as a result of inhaling tear gas" fired by the army.
Palestinians said the Israeli army provided protection for the settlers and prevented civil defense vehicles from entering the town.
This brings the number of martyrs in the West Bank as a result of Israeli army operations and settler attacks to 633 since October 7.
Hamas condemns attack, calls for uprising
Hamas condemned, on Thursday, the attack by Israeli settlers on the town of Jit, north of the West Bank.
Hamas called, in a statement, on the Palestinians of the West Bank to “further rise up against the occupation.”
The statement added: “We mourn the martyred hero Rashid Mahmoud Sedda, who was killed by the fire of the settler militias in the village of Jit, and we affirm that the pure blood will not go in vain and will be a curse on the occupation.”
Hamas considered in the statement that the attack on the town of "Jit" is conclusive evidence of Israel's approach and its extermination plans against the land and people of the West Bank.
In turn, the Islamic Jihad movement condemned, in a statement, the attack launched by settlers (more than 100 settler gangs) on the village of Jit, east of Qalqilya Governorate, on Thursday evening, “and the burning of a number of homes and vehicles in the village, and the shooting of residents, which led to the killing of the young man Rashid Abdul Qader Sedda (23 years old), and the injury of more than 10 others.”
With American support, Israel waged a devastating war on Gaza, leaving more than 132,000 dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing, amid massive destruction and deadly famine.
