Why do not the "legitimacy" forces unite?

Our Writers| 10 September, 2024 - 6:13 PM

Have the political mind within the ranks of legitimacy, with its major components, run out of ideas and solutions to practically unify efforts to resolve the conflict with the Houthis?

Taking into account all the considerations that stand before unification to resolve the conflict with the Houthis, the door remains open for political action to devise solutions that ensure the sustainability of organized and unified work, which does not result in discord that affects performance within state institutions, and does not disappoint the hopes of the street that is looking forward to ending the war and addressing the economic situation.

In the deep dispute that broke out between the two great groups of companions, the scene indicated a bloody fight between the armies of Iraq and Syria, had it not been for wisdom and compliance with the use of reason and the innovation of solutions.

The truth is that these elements were not enough to reconcile the two groups, had it not been for the will they had. The will was driven by a genuine interest in defusing a war that would have destroyed the Muslims. When Muawiyah offered to Al-Hassan bin Ali, may God be pleased with them both, to give up the caliphate according to understandings whose terms he had woven and sent with his two messengers to Al-Hassan, may God be pleased with him, Al-Hassan agreed.

Despite the equal forces on both sides, as the stories say, Al-Hassan abdicated the caliphate, and this was called the Year of the Community, due to the unity of the Muslims’ word and the unification of their positions.

I am not idealistic, and I am not talking about daydreams. These steps are necessary. They are necessary for the "Congress", for "Islah", for the "Transitional Council", and for all existing forces. Without these forces resolving the conflict with the "Houthis" under one roof, the reasons for division among their ranks will not leave them with a future that they can disagree on.

These steps are from the ABCs of politics, and realism, and it is unrealistic for these differences to continue, no matter how big, to miss all opportunities to restore the state and defeat an enemy that is lurking for everyone. Concessions are necessary, and opening the doors to discuss the requirements of unity and agreement is necessary, and what is rejected is to rise above reality and go far with unilateral steps based on illusions of strength, while the real strength currently lies in unifying positions to confront the Houthis only, and confronting the miserable economic situation, and confronting famine, diseases, deteriorating services, and the collapse of education, and so on from a series of continuous failures.

Although the solutions have multiplied and accumulated, whether officially through the experience of the Presidential Leadership Council, or through those entities that were established from time to time in the form of party alliances or power blocs. But as long as they have not practically resulted in bridging the rift, there remain attempts that must be built upon and work must continue to come up with more effective solutions. Solutions that guarantee the fulfillment of the aspirations of the Yemenis, not the aspirations of the powers, and that meet the necessities of the stage, not the necessities of those positioned to secure interests according to the equations of private calculations.

Opportunities are still available to achieve breakthroughs in the file of internal settlements within the ranks of legitimacy. We hope that the coming days will witness surprises that will please the Yemenis.
