Former US President Donald Trump stressed that Israel should strike nuclear facilities in Iran, in response to the latter's attack on the Hebrew state a few days ago.

Speaking in North Carolina, the Republican White House candidate referred to a question posed to US President Joe Biden in the middle of the week about the possibility of Israel targeting Iranian nuclear facilities.

"They asked him this question, and the answer should have been 'Nuclear it first and take care of the rest later,'" Trump said, according to AFP.

Trump's comment came after Biden's statements on Friday, in which he urged Israel to refrain from striking oil facilities in Iran.

The US President said on Friday that he would consider alternatives to striking Iranian oil fields if he were in Israel's place, and stated that he believes that Israel has not yet figured out how to respond to Iran.

Biden added in a White House press briefing that Israel should look for alternatives to targeting Iranian oil facilities.

Washington has stressed that Iran's attack would have "consequences." Biden spoke on Thursday of ongoing "discussions" about possible Israeli strikes against Iranian oil facilities.

Israel announced that Iran launched about 200 ballistic missiles towards it, most of which were intercepted by Israeli air defense systems. US forces deployed in the region also contributed to intercepting the missiles, in addition to Jordan.

In April, Iran carried out a similar missile attack on Israel in response to the bombing of its consulate in Damascus, which it blamed on Israel. The attack used drones and missiles, which were widely intercepted. It was the first time Iran had ever directly struck Israeli territory.
