Yemeni Americans in Dearborn announced the establishment of a new political organization, following the US presidential elections that witnessed widespread Yemeni, Arab and Islamic political activity in the United States of America.
The organization's founding statement, called the Arab American Political Movement , said it "seeks to promote democratic values and civil rights, and support reforms that enhance policies that support and strengthen the American family."
The statement added: "The organization aims to effectively participate in the political life of Arab Americans through awareness programs and community dialogues that aim to increase political awareness and activate the role of American citizens of Arab origin in decision-making."
The list of founders included: (Naji Al-Madhaji, Khalil Othman, Yahya Al-Jahmi, Khaled Al-Waqidi, Hussein Jilan, Abdul Nasser Al-Najjar, Nasr Al-Madhaji, Ibrahim Abu Hatem, and Muhammad Shajra).
