Exclusive: Yemen Youth Net - Follow-ups
The mayor of Hamtramck, a Yemeni-American, Amir Ghaleb, said that former US President and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump apologized to Yemeni immigrants in his country for the statements he made attacking them last Sunday in his speech in Pennsylvania.
Ghaleb explained that Trump, whom he met on Friday, expressed his guilt over his "slip of the tongue" that occurred at the Pennsylvania festival, and stressed that he respects Yemeni Americans and will work to solve their problems in America and in Yemen.
He added, "There are upcoming steps that express the extent of his (Trump's) gratitude and appreciation for the Yemeni-American community, and you will hear about them later."
Last Sunday, in his speech in Pennsylvania, Trump attacked Yemenis coming to the United States, describing them as “known terrorists who come across the border in large numbers and are released into our country.”
This comes at a time when the Yemeni and Arab communities are witnessing a great attraction from the American presidential candidates who are competing to win the favor of the Arab and Muslim voter to enhance their chances of reaching the White House.
The presidential elections scheduled for November 5th will be contested by former US President Donald Trump of the Republican Party and current Vice President Kamala Harris of the Democratic Party.
