The Saudi-led Arab coalition issued a statement on Saturday evening regarding the incident that led to the killing of two Saudi soldiers and the injury of a third, at the hands of a soldier from the First Military Region, in Hadhramaut Governorate, eastern Yemen, yesterday, Friday.

This came in a statement published by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) 24 hours after the incident.

The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) quoted the official spokesman for the coalition forces, Brigadier General Turki Al-Maliki, as confirming, "The martyrdom of an officer and a non-commissioned officer, and the injury of an officer, as a result of a treacherous and cowardly attack inside the coalition forces camp in the city of (Saiyun)."

Brigadier General Al-Maliki explained that the treacherous attack took place on Friday evening, corresponding to (06 Jumada Al-Awwal 1446 AH) (November 08, 2024 AD), at the camp of the coalition forces supporting the legitimate forces to train them and support the forces of the First Military Region to combat terrorism and smuggling in the city of (Saiyun) and to support humanitarian and development work inside Yemen, while they were practicing sports training.

He pointed out that "the attack was carried out by a person affiliated with the Yemeni Ministry of Defense," stressing that "the aforementioned person does not represent the honorable members of the Yemeni Ministry of Defense who appreciate the positive and important role played by the coalition forces in supporting the Yemeni legitimacy and supporting humanitarian work to alleviate the suffering of the brotherly Yemeni people."

Brigadier General Al-Maliki stated that the joint forces will work, in coordination with the Yemeni Ministry of Defense, to follow up on the investigation procedures to determine the reasons and motives, arrest the perpetrator, and bring him to justice.
