Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed Al-Ansari said that the round of talks in Doha is ongoing and has achieved a lot so far, and he stressed that there are parallel lines of work to reduce the escalation in Lebanon and Gaza.

Al-Ansari added - in a press conference today, Tuesday, in Doha - that "it is not possible to comment on the content of the negotiations in Qatar, but a lot has been achieved regarding them," stressing that Qatar "is trying to invest all opportunities to reach a permanent solution and do justice to our Palestinian brothers."

He explained that meetings are continuing in Doha, Cairo and European capitals, in search of a proposal for negotiations. He pointed out that work is underway closely with partners in Egypt and the United States to mediate the negotiations, and he pointed out that the goal is to contain the conflict in Gaza and prevent the escalation in the region.

He said that Qatar will work with the administration of US President Joe Biden "until the last moment" before the US presidential elections to reach an agreement to cease fire in Gaza.

Al-Ansari warned that stopping support and work of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) would have disastrous consequences, and stressed that Qatar strongly believes in the role of the agency.

New formula

For his part, Axios reported earlier that CIA Director William Burns discussed a new formula for a ceasefire and prisoner exchange in Gaza with his Israeli and Qatari counterparts during the Doha talks.

The American website added that the new formula includes a 28-day ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, Hamas releasing about 8 detainees, and Israel releasing dozens of Palestinian prisoners.

Axios also reported that Israel has agreed to a temporary ceasefire, but Hamas wants a ceasefire that would lead to irreversible Israeli steps.

Axios indicated that the CIA Director and Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani have already begun developing the idea of a partial agreement in the Gaza Strip.

With American support, Israel has been waging a genocidal war on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, and has been waging a large-scale war on Lebanon since September 23.
