Reuters: Gulf states urge US to prevent Israel from bombing Iranian oil sites

The White House declined to answer a question about whether Gulf governments had asked Washington to ensure that Israel’s response would be measured. US President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke on Wednesday about the Israeli response in a phone call that both sides described as positive.

“Gulf states’ concerns will likely be a major point of discussion with Israeli counterparts in trying to persuade Israel to implement a carefully considered response,” said Jonathan Panikoff, a former senior U.S. intelligence official for the Middle East who is now at the Atlantic Council think tank in Washington.
