Two Palestinian gunmen carried out an armed operation in the center of Tel Aviv and Jaffa on Tuesday evening, resulting in a number of deaths and injuries, according to Israeli media.
Initial reports about the number of dead and wounded were conflicting. The Israel Hayom newspaper reported that the number of dead in the Jaffa attack reached 8.
Some Hebrew sources reported that there were 6 critical injuries, but the Israeli authorities later backtracked and announced that the number of dead had reached 6 and the number of wounded had reached 9.
Channel 12 reported that there were 10 injured, 6 of whom were in critical condition, while the Israeli Army Radio said that there were 4 injured in critical condition.
The Israeli police said that the armed attack in Tel Aviv resulted in 6 deaths and 16 injuries, including two critically injured and 5 seriously injured.
Regarding the identity of the perpetrators, Israeli Channel 13 said that the perpetrators of the operation were from the city of Hebron in the West Bank, and some Palestinian news websites reported that the perpetrators belong to the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), although no official statement was issued to that effect.
Hamas praised the "heroic" operation in "occupied" Jaffa, saying it was "a natural response to the war of extermination and Zionist aggression in Gaza, the West Bank, Jerusalem and Lebanon."
In the first Israeli reaction, Channel 12 quoted Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich as saying, “I will now demand in the cabinet meeting that the family members of the perpetrators of the heinous attack in Jaffa be deported to Gaza tonight so that they can see and be seen without the Supreme Court and without B’Tselem.”
Two people opened fire near a train station in Tel Aviv, in a very difficult incident. Four Israelis were killed instantly, six were seriously injured and the number is rising.

This is the largest operation witnessed by Tel Aviv since the Second Intifada in 2000.
News websites reported that the two Palestinian perpetrators used automatic weapons to carry out the attack.
Israeli social media sites indicated that "Hamas is bringing back October 7, but this time in Tel Aviv."
