Presidential candidates, Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Kamala Harris, continued their campaign tours on Saturday, as both present themselves as saviors of the United States, three days before the elections that are described as historic in terms of the intensity of the competition and its potential consequences.

At a rally in Gastonia, North Carolina - one of the seven battleground states in the presidential race - Trump warned that suburbanites were being "attacked" by criminal groups.

The former president also reiterated his pledge to deport millions of immigrants if elected to a second term, and said that "every city in America will be turned into a dangerous, dirty refugee camp" if Harris wins the presidency.

For her part, Harris said during her election campaign in Atlanta, Georgia - also a crucial state - that Trump would abuse his power if he returned to the White House.

"This person is becoming increasingly unbalanced. He is obsessed with revenge and possessed by hatred. A man who seeks unlimited power," she continued.

The Democratic candidate and US Vice President continued her campaign from Georgia to North Carolina, where her path crossed with her competitor there.

She got off her plane at Charlotte airport in the state to see an unusual sight: Trump's plane, in the colors of the American flag and with his name on it.

This is the fourth day in a row that Harris and Trump have visited the same state, highlighting the great importance of the seven swing states, which are expected to decide the elections, in which opinion polls show a fierce competition.

In another development, a poll by the local newspaper Des Moines Register in Iowa showed that Harris leads in the state by 47% compared to 44% for Trump, which are remarkable numbers considering that this state is considered among the red states decided for the Republicans, as Trump won it in the 2016 and 2020 elections.

On the other hand, more than 73 million Americans have cast their early ballots, either in person or by mail, a number that indicates a large voter turnout, although it is lower than the rate of the 2020 elections that took place during the Covid-19 pandemic, when more than 100 million Americans voted early.
