The Book Authority announces the start of receiving publishers to participate in the Hadhramaut International Book Fair

The General Authority for Books in the Republic of Yemen announced the start of receiving applications from Yemeni, Arab and international publishers to participate in the Hadhramaut International Book Fair, which will be hosted by the city of Mukalla, during the period from December 18 to 28.

The Authority has set September 5th as the date for receiving applications through the exhibition platform https://hadhrmoutfair.geboye.com .

Saba News Agency quoted the head of the General Authority for Books, Yahya Al-Thulaia, as saying, "The exhibition is organized by the Authority in partnership with the largest Yemeni cultural institutions (Hadhramaut Foundation for Culture), according to arrangements and preparations to be the largest cultural event witnessed by Yemen in a decade and a half, and the first exhibition in Yemen since the Sana'a International Book Fair stopped in 2013. The exhibition will be accompanied by a program and schedule of various qualitative events."

He pointed out that the concerned committee approved the selection of the great Yemeni writer and novelist "Ali Ahmed Baktheer" as the personality of the year, in appreciation of the intellectual and literary legacy he left behind that enriched human culture in the fields of novels, theater, stories, translation and poetry. Baktheer is also considered a symbol and an independent school in Yemeni Arab, Islamic and human literature, as well as an authentic extension of the inspiring fingerprints and achievements that distinguished the Hadhramaut School in the fields of culture, thought, knowledge, history, arts and diaspora literature.

He pointed out that the General Authority for the Book will work to provide all possible facilities to Yemeni, Arab and international publishers, thought leaders, librarians, the publishing industry and the exhibition guests.

He pointed out that there is an agreement with the Arab Publishers Association to grant exceptional discounts and privileges to publishers on participation fees, in appreciation of the association’s efforts, to enhance its roles, and to support publishing institutions and the book industry.
