On Saturday evening, the US Central Command (Centcom) announced the destruction of a missile and a launch pad in an area controlled by the Houthis in Yemen, during the past 24 hours, while a British authority announced an incident in the Gulf of Aden.
Centcom said in a statement on the
"These weapons pose an imminent threat to US forces, coalition forces (Prosperity Alliance), and commercial ships in the region," Centcom claimed.
She added, "These measures were taken to protect freedom of navigation and make international waters safer."
In this context, the British Maritime Trade Operations Authority said on Saturday that it had received a report of an incident 170 nautical miles southwest of the Yemeni city of Aden.
In "solidarity with Gaza," which has been witnessing a devastating Israeli war since last October 7, the Houthis have been targeting, with missiles and drones, cargo ships linked to Tel Aviv in the Red Sea since November, and they are also attacking targets inside Israel.
In response to the Houthis attacking cargo ships, a US-led coalition has launched, since the beginning of this year, raids that it says target “the group’s sites” in various regions of Yemen.
