Two children were seriously injured when a landmine left behind by the terrorist Houthi militia exploded in the city of Hodeidah (western Yemen).

Local sources said that two children who were playing in the rainwater in the Abu Halfa area in the city of Hodeidah, on Sunday, were seriously injured as a result of the explosion of a landmine left by the Houthi militia.

Journalist Bassem Al-Janani reported that the mentioned area is still full of mines planted by the Houthis and have not been completely removed yet.

Earlier this month, the Yemeni Mine Observatory revealed that torrential rains hitting several Yemeni governorates had swept away mines and warheads from contaminated areas to populated areas.

The Observatory called on farmers, shepherds, residents and all citizens to take precautions against mines and ammunition that floods carry to populated areas and the vicinity of displacement camps, residential areas and villages, and to inform the competent authorities about any foreign object and educate children about the dangers of such objects to their lives.

He also called on travelers on main and secondary roads and alternative roads between governorates to take the utmost caution and beware of the danger of mines and war objects that were swept away by the floods onto those roads and crossings, in order to preserve their safety.
