Activists on social media said that a girl in her twenties was killed on Thursday after she refused to marry one of her relatives in Taiz Governorate, southwest of the country.

Activists explained that the girl, "Ruwa Abdo Ahmed Mahyoub", was killed by a poisoned injection given to her in the neck, which led to her immediate death in the village of Arkab, in the Sabr Al-Mawadem Directorate.

They added that the girl refused to marry her relative, "Mahram Abdul Latif," who threatened to kill her. She had been engaged to another young man, "Moaz Mohammed Qasim Obaid."

They pointed out that the girl had filed several complaints with the village sheikh without any response, and when her wedding date to her fiancé, Moaz, approached, she was given a lethal injection in the neck, which led to her immediate death. Her body was transferred to Al-Thawra Hospital in Taiz.
