At least 50 passengers survived a massive fire that engulfed a public transport bus in Abyan Governorate (southern Yemen) on Monday.

Identical sources said that a sudden fire broke out in a public transport bus belonging to the "Al-Afdal" company, and expanded and consumed the entire bus, which was carrying at least 50 passengers coming from Saudi Arabia towards Aden.

The sources added that the incident occurred near Hassan Point (the eastern outlet) of Zinjibar, the capital of Abyan.

The sources indicated that the passengers survived the accident after they were able to leave the bus immediately after it caught fire, while most of their luggage was burned, amidst a state of discontent and anger among the passengers who criticized the absence of fire engines and civil defense in the area.

The cause of the fire, which completely damaged the bus, was not immediately known.
