Early Warning Center warns of tropical disturbance impact on southeastern coast of Yemen

The Early Warning Center in Hadhramaut Governorate expected that the southern coastal directorates, the countryside and the surrounding highlands would be affected by varying to thundery rains during Wednesday evening, as a result of the tropical disturbance wave affecting the southeastern coast of Yemen.

The center said in its bulletin that satellite images and weather map analyses show the extension of a wave - a tropical disturbance - centered in the northwest of the Arabian Sea during the past (24) hours with a central wind speed of 15 knots.

He added that it is expected that within the next (48) hours a humid air mass will extend towards the Gulf of Aden, our country's territorial waters and the southern coasts, accompanied by flows of cumulus clouds accompanied by varying rainfall ranging from medium to heavy at times, with some valleys flowing.

Parts of the coastal districts of Hadhramaut Governorate, the countryside and the surrounding highlands will be affected by varying rainfall, turning into thunderstorms at times, extending to include parts of the interior plateaus and deserts during the period from Wednesday evening, 10/23/2024 AD, until Friday dawn, 10/25/2024 AD.

The center warned all citizens to be careful and cautious during rainfall and not to risk crossing valleys and their branches when they are flowing, warning fishermen and seafarers of active surface winds and rough seas in our country's territorial waters, the Gulf of Aden and the Socotra Archipelago.

He also warned of the low level of horizontal visibility due to the formation of fog and rainfall, stressing the need not to touch lighting poles and electrical conductors during and after rainfall.
