Abyan: Yemen Youth Net
A citizen in Abyan Governorate (southern Yemen) killed his wife and sister, in the latest domestic violence crime witnessed by the country, which has been mired in a war that has been ongoing for 10 years.
Local and media sources said that a citizen from Ahwar District in Abyan Governorate, named Ali Salmeen Mohammed Aqil Janjal, killed his wife and sister yesterday evening with a Kalashnikov automatic weapon.
The sources reported that the murdered wife was a newborn, having given birth to a child several days ago.
The sources said that the motives behind the crime are still unknown, while the perpetrator managed to escape to an unknown area.
For years, Yemen has witnessed an increase in domestic crime rates, as one of the repercussions of the war that has been ongoing for 10 years, amid warnings of the dangers of its effects on societal cohesion.
