General Hospital in Ash Shihr Hadramout
On Sunday, employees and cadres of the General Hospital in Ash Shihr District, Hadhramaut Governorate (eastern Yemen) carried out a comprehensive strike in protest against the failure of the concerned authorities to respond to their demands.
Sources working in the hospital said that the employees carried out a comprehensive strike in all departments of the hospital, with the exception of receiving emergency cases in the departments (emergency - delivery - intensive care - kidney dialysis).
The sources stated that the strike came as a result of the failure of the concerned authorities to respond to the legal and legitimate demands of employees and contractors.
The sources explained that the employees are demanding the disbursement of workers’ incentives and shift allowances that have been suspended since March 2024, and the release of the withheld operating budget.
Among their demands is the adoption of an operating budget for the hospital, as a public hospital and not a rural one, and the absorption of the employment of internal contract workers in the hospital and their inclusion in the central contract in the governorate, according to the sources.
