Hodeidah: Yemen Youth Net
Today, Saturday, the Association of Mothers of Abductees renewed its demand for the release of 549 abductees, including 199 forcibly disappeared, denouncing the silence of the international and regional community regarding the violations against abductees by the Houthi militias and other parties.
The association organized a protest in Al-Hodeidah Governorate, denouncing and condemning the ongoing violations against its sons who have been kidnapped, arbitrarily detained, and forcibly disappeared in various prisons by all parties for years, which worsens their situation in detention centers with the continued neglect of their cause.
In the statement of the stand, the association expressed its dissatisfaction and denunciation of the continued suffering of its sons who have been kidnapped, arbitrarily detained and forcibly disappeared in various prisons in the Republic of Yemen for years, stressing that the continuation of this suffering and the continued neglect of the issue of our kidnapped sons through continuous procrastination, with which the duration of their detention increases and consequently their situation in prisons worsens.
The statement explained that there are still "549" abductees, "199" forcibly disappeared, and "31" arbitrarily detained people languishing in detention centers, represented by the prisons of the Houthi group, the Security Belt Forces affiliated with the Transitional Council, and the forces of the internationally recognized government, which exacerbates their suffering and the suffering of their families who live in harsh and unbearable conditions.
The Association called on the international community, all human rights organizations, and all those concerned with the issue of the kidnapped to assume their legal and humanitarian responsibilities and seek their immediate and unconditional release, especially the sick among them.
It also called on all parties and national and international mediations, headed by the UN envoy to Yemen, to intensify their efforts to resolve this humanitarian issue urgently and end the suffering of the abductees.
The statement said that the silence of the international and regional community on these practices against the kidnapped - the latest of which was the death of the kidnapped "Khaled Mohammed Abu Saeed" in the prisons of the Houthi group under mysterious circumstances - encourages the continuation of these crimes against the kidnapped, which amount to war crimes.
The Association affirmed its continuous efforts, tirelessly, to demand the rights of its children, the first of which is their freedom and their safe return to the bosom of their families. It stressed that the issue of the kidnapped persons requires a final and urgent solution.
