Houthi militias attacked young men raising the national flag and chanting for Yemen in Tahrir Square, on the eve of the 62nd anniversary of the September 26 Revolution.
A video circulated by activists showed Houthi militias attacking young men in Tahrir Square in the capital, Sana'a, who were carrying the national flag and chanting, "With our souls and blood, we will sacrifice for you, Yemen."
Activists told Yemen Youth Net, "The militias attacked the youth who gathered after the Houthi celebrations in Tahrir Square on Wednesday evening. They were carrying the national flag and chanting, 'With our souls and blood, we will sacrifice for you, Yemen.'"
Activists reported that "elements of the Houthi militia were chanting, 'With our souls and blood we will sacrifice for you, Al-Aqsa.' They attacked the youth, and their fate is unknown."
Despite the fear imposed by the Houthis in Sanaa and a number of the governorates they control, celebrations appeared widely in the streets, individually and in the form of small gatherings, as many of the shots circulated by activists showed.
Since Tuesday evening, the Houthi militias have been in a state of emergency and have imposed a deployment of militias in all main streets, fearing the crowds that are spontaneously gathering to celebrate the anniversary of the September 26 Revolution.
The Houthi militias banned any popular celebrations of the 62nd anniversary of the glorious revolution, and Houthi leaders issued death threats to citizens if they celebrated the anniversary. Houthi leader Nasr al-Din Amer described anyone celebrating in Sana’a as an agent of Israel and said, “The head of anyone who goes out to cause chaos will be broken.”
The Houthi militias are experiencing a state of hysteria over the popular celebrations of the September 26 Revolution, which has led them to launch widespread kidnappings of hundreds of citizens in all the governorates they control, and to target anyone who interacted with the September 26 Revolution on social media.
