The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) has been notified of an entity impersonating it and asking ships for updates on their locations in the Red Sea.
In a security warning on the X platform, the authority recommended that ship captains verify any calls they receive using the information published in BMP5 or on the Q6099 maritime security chart.
The authority advised ships to sail with caution and report any suspicious activity.

This comes at a time when the Houthi militia continues its attacks against international shipping vessels in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, as part of what it calls its solidarity with Gaza, which has been subjected to a war of extermination by the Zionist entity since October 7, 2023.
It is noteworthy that the British Authority, from its headquarters in Dubai, manages the Voluntary Reporting System ( VRS ) in the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden and Arabian Sea (in accordance with Maritime Security Scheme Q6099 ), and acts as a primary point of contact for commercial vessels and a means of communication with military forces in the region.
