Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega said, "Netanyahu is a Nazi dictator and a son of Satan," days after his country announced it was severing diplomatic ties with the Israeli occupation in response to the "brutal genocide against the Palestinians."

This came in a speech he gave on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the founding of his country's police force, in which he likened the President of Nicaragua, Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of the Zionist entity, to Hitler, and Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, to "Hitler's son", noting that they follow terrorist policies and seek to destroy peoples.

Ortega said of Netanyahu: "The Israeli government is run by a prime minister who is the son of Satan. Why? Because he follows a policy of terror and he is (Adolf) Hitler." He added: "He is (Netanyahu) Hitler, yes, the prime minister of Israel is Hitler who settled there and demands the destruction of peoples."

As for Zelensky, Ortega said: “He is like Netanyahu, another Nazi, another son of Hitler, who wants to involve NATO in a war against the Russian Federation.”

The Nicaraguan president also accused the United States and the European Union countries of supporting and arming the Zionist entity in its crimes, saying: "They are either pushing the planet towards a comprehensive war or they have no choice but to wait for defeat."

severing relations with israel

The Nicaraguan government announced last Friday that it was severing diplomatic relations with Israel, in response to the "brutal genocide that its fascist and war criminal government continues to commit against the Palestinian people."

The Nicaraguan government said in a statement that the severing of relations came because of the continued Israeli attacks on Palestinian territories, noting that the conflict "now extends also against Lebanon, and seriously threatens Syria, Yemen and Iran."

The Nicaraguan Congress passed a resolution calling on the government to take measures to coincide with the anniversary of the Israeli war on Gaza.

"Our president has asked the Foreign Ministry to proceed with the severing of diplomatic relations with the fascist and criminal government of Israel," Rosario Murillo, Vice President Daniel Ortega, told state media.

This decision is essentially symbolic and political, and exchanges between the two countries are almost non-existent. Israel also does not have an ambassador in Managua.

It is noteworthy that on March 28, 2017, Nicaragua and Israel restored diplomatic relations between them, after Ortega severed them in 2010. In 1982, Managua severed diplomatic relations with Israel, under the Sandinista government led by Ortega, after the revolution led by this movement in 1979.

Nicaragua had previously formally requested to join the genocide case brought by South Africa against Israel.

Israel is waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip, leaving tens of thousands of civilian victims, most of them children and women, in addition to an unprecedented humanitarian disaster and massive destruction of infrastructure, which led to Tel Aviv appearing before the International Court of Justice to be tried on charges of "genocide" for the first time in its history.
