An Israeli military analyst said on Monday that Tel Aviv is "still stuck in a dead end" one year after its war of extermination on the Gaza Strip.

This came in an article by analyst Amos Harel in the Hebrew newspaper Haaretz, in which he said that "the failure and ongoing threat posed by the October 7 war will continue to loom over Israel, which is still stuck in a dead end."

He continued: "We have almost become accustomed to the daily news, the rockets on the Galilee, the rockets fired at Haifa and the Amakim area (north), the funerals of soldiers killed in battle, and the lack of progress in the negotiations regarding the hostage deal (for those held in Gaza)."

Since September 23, Israel has been waging a war on Lebanon, through unprecedentedly intense and bloody air strikes that even targeted the capital Beirut, in addition to a ground incursion that it began in the south, ignoring international warnings and UN resolutions.

Hezbollah responds daily by launching missiles, drones and artillery shells targeting military sites and settlements across Israel. While Tel Aviv announces some of its human and material losses, Israeli military censorship imposes a strict blackout on most of the losses, according to observers.

Referring to the October 7, 2023 attack, Harel said: “This year was horrific, starting with a horrific failure, the worst in the country’s history.”

"The story is not over yet," Harel added. "The war will continue, and the new turbulent regional situation will affect the entire Middle East for years to come."

Attacking Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Harel said: “In complete contrast to the nonsense that Netanyahu sometimes promotes about complete victory and that he is the main culprit in the disaster, Israel is still far from defeating its enemies.”

He pointed out that "the blow we suffered on October 7 caused a catastrophic failure, and it is likely that recovery from it will take decades," considering that "the achievements of the war cannot erase the terrible impression left by October 7."

The military analyst confirmed that "the intelligence services, which for years boasted of their ability to eavesdrop on enemy communications and collect huge amounts of information, have proven their failure."

"When the tsunami arrived in the form of thousands of armed men followed by crowds from Gaza (Hamas fighters), the IDF's defenses collapsed within moments," he added.

Monday marks the first anniversary of Israel's launch of a genocidal war in Gaza, with American support, which has so far resulted in more than 139,000 Palestinian deaths and injuries, and more than 10,000 missing persons, amid massive destruction and famine that has killed dozens of children and elderly people.

Tel Aviv continues its war of extermination, ignoring the UN Security Council's decision to end it immediately, and the International Court of Justice's orders to take measures to prevent acts of "genocide" and improve the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza.
