Press reports revealed that Real Madrid is preparing an offer to sign right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool next January to compensate for the absence of the injured Dani Carvajal.

The English right-back's contract expires on June 30, 2025, and could be a solution to a problem that has been troubling the royal club, after Dani Carvajal suffered a cruciate ligament tear in his right knee and ended his season.

Marca newspaper pointed out the club's absolute confidence in Carvajal and his replacement at right-back, Lucas Vazquez. "But Carvajal's injury changed a lot of what was initially planned."

She added that Alexander Arnold (26 years old) occupies an advanced position on Real Madrid's list of options for the right-back position, especially because his contract is about to expire.

She continued, "The club has not moved yet," as it is waiting until January, when the player is in the final six months of his contract, to enter "the process, evaluate it and submit an offer" to include him. She stressed that "anything could happen to him if he does not renew (his contract) before January."

She pointed out that "the team's response in these months will be essential," adding that the defenders are diminishing in the team, with the absence of David Alaba and Carvajal, in addition to the young Juan Martinez, whom the club considers a member of "the first team."

She added that the English player, who has an excellent relationship with Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham, should not renew his contract and wait until January if he wants to join Real Madrid, noting that this will be decided according to the team's results and Liverpool's approach.

She concluded that Real Madrid officials see Alexander-Arnold as a player who can appear in his usual role as an attacking full-back, but also in different positions, whether as a full-back or as a midfielder.

Alexander-Arnold primarily plays as a right-back for Liverpool and England, but can also play in midfield due to his technical ability, passing range and attacking qualities.

Since making his debut in October 2016, Alexander-Arnold has scored 102 goals in 319 appearances for Liverpool, including 83 assists.
