The Yemeni Football Association announced today, Tuesday, its intention to sue the West Asian Football Federation before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), in the latest developments in the repercussions of our national team’s exclusion from the eleventh edition of the West Asian Youth Championship held in Jordan.

The federation said in a statement published on its Facebook page, "An official complaint will be filed with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) as a result of the West Asian Federation's violation of the regulations governing the Junior Championship currently being held in Jordan, and its deliberate injustice to the national junior team and its exclusion from the championship by unjustly suspending important players in the (Saudi Arabia) match."

He added that the complaint he will submit includes the Federation's violation of conducting an unapproved medical examination (X-ray) instead of magnetic resonance imaging ( MRI ) for the suspended players.

The Federation explained that it was decided to resort to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), after the West Asian Football Federation’s Disciplinary Committee acknowledged the mistake that was made against the players of the national youth team, and rejected the request to replay the match against the Saudi team, in addition to the West Asian Federation’s violation of the regulations and laws and the unjustified disregard of its leadership to respond to the Yemeni Football Federation, in a way that ensures the preservation of the national team’s legitimate right to the tournament.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) is an international quasi-judicial body that settles sports-related disputes and conflicts. It is headquartered in Lausanne, Switzerland, and has branches in New York, Sydney, and Lausanne.

Earlier yesterday evening, our national youth team arrived at Sana'a International Airport, after being eliminated from the tournament due to what the Yemeni Federation called "arbitrary decisions taken by the organizing committee and the suspension of players without any legal justification and the refusal to accept the request to replay the Saudi match despite the players' eligibility being proven."

The players are scheduled to be given a few days of rest before resuming preparations in an internal camp in preparation for the most important event, which is the Asian qualifiers in Group Nine, which includes the teams (Yemen, Vietnam, Kyrgyzstan and Myanmar), scheduled to be held in Vietnam during the period (23-27) of next October, qualifying for the Asian and World Cup finals.
