Today, Thursday, the plastic artist, Mohammed Al-Bashaq, died from his injuries resulting from a traffic accident in the capital, Sana’a, two weeks ago.
According to a number of his fellow artists, Al-Bashaq was involved in a traffic accident, which resulted in injuries to the first and second vertebrae and the spinal cord, resulting in quadriplegia and the failure of his respiratory system.
Activists pointed out that his family incurred huge losses in exchange for treatment in a number of hospitals in the capital.
A number of artists called for solidarity with the Al-Bashaq family, who hails from the Tihama plains, and to support them after they lost their breadwinner and incurred huge financial losses in hospital treatment.
In this regard, the visual artist and comedian Nizar Al-Sanfani called in a post on his Facebook page to stand with Al-Bashaq’s family in their ordeal.
Meanwhile, artist Sami Al-Akwa attacked the Houthi authorities, who he said "did not look at him" since the accident that killed him.
Al-Akwa said: “This is how Muhammad Al-Bashaq Fan departs, the great, great artist, and the simple man with the shy Tihama smile that hardly ever leaves his face.”
He added: "This is how he leaves, because someone like him should stay in the hospital for more than two weeks without anyone looking at him."
He wondered: "What do the disgusting authorities and stupid organizations want from the artist other than to suck his art and his soul, leaving him alone when facing illness and death, even from us, his friends, who have nothing for him but oppression over the helplessness of this abyssal homeland?"
Meanwhile, the artist Rashid Hammadi announced on his Facebook page that one of his paintings is for sale for the benefit of the Al-Bashaq family.
Rashid said: “I am offering this painting for sale for the benefit of the family of the late artist Mohammed Al-Bashq,” calling on “all artists to take the initiative with what they can.”
