The Minister of Information, Muammar Al-Eryani, strongly condemned the terrorist Houthi militia’s kidnapping of media activist and content creator Abdulrahman Al-Baydani from his home in the Al-Sahoul area of Ibb Governorate, and his enforced disappearance, due to his comments, as part of a series of kidnappings that have recently affected hundreds of politicians, journalists, media professionals, human rights activists, unionists, and activists on social media sites.
Muammar Al-Eryani explained in a post on the X platform that these kidnappings are just a new episode in the series of systematic violations carried out by the Houthi militia against every free national voice in the areas under its control, who exercise their right to convey the facts and expose the militia’s oppressive practices, and their pride in their national affiliation and celebration of national holidays, with the aim of obscuring the truth and tightening the noose on freedom of expression.
Al-Eryani called on the international community, the United Nations and human rights organizations to assume their responsibilities towards these criminal practices that represent a flagrant violation of international laws, and to pressure the Houthi militia to release journalists and all abductees in its illegal detention centers without any conditions, and to guarantee their rights and protect them from these criminal practices, and to begin classifying it as a "global terrorist organization."
On September 27, the terrorist Houthi militia kidnapped Al-Baydani from his home in the Al-Sahoul area in Al-Makhader district, and took him to the city of Ibb, and refused to release him on the pretext that he was being held by the intelligence.
The militia had anticipated his kidnapping by trying to force him to delete his YouTube channel and posts from his social media accounts, due to the harsh criticism he had directed at the Houthi militia, especially in the economic aspect.
