US airstrikes on Hodeidah
The Iranian-backed Houthi militia announced on Wednesday that US and British aircraft launched raids on the Hodeidah governorate, western Yemen.
Houthi media reported that the US-British aircraft targeted the Al-Salif district in Al-Hodeidah governorate with three airstrikes.
The UK Maritime Trade Operations said the Greek-flagged oil tanker Sunion ran aground in the Red Sea on Wednesday after repeated attacks caused a fire on board and rendered it unable to sail.
The Greek shipping ministry and the Maritime Trade Operations Authority said the tanker was attacked by two small boats and hit with three projectiles 77 nautical miles (142 km) west of the Yemeni port of Hodeidah on Wednesday.
Houthi attacks are disrupting global shipping, forcing companies to reroute their ships away from the Red Sea and the Suez Canal and around Africa via the Cape of Good Hope.
The attacks also prompted the United States and Britain to carry out retaliatory strikes on Houthi-controlled territory.
