Human Rights Council adopts draft resolution on technical assistance and capacity-building for the National Commission of Inquiry in Yemen

The United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva unanimously adopted, on Friday, at its 57th session, draft resolution No. A/HRC/57/L.32 on providing technical assistance and capacity-building to the National Committee to Investigate Allegations of Human Rights Violations in Yemen.
The Council urged all parties to the conflict in Yemen to cooperate with the National Commission to Investigate Allegations of Human Rights Violations and to facilitate its access to information in a full and transparent manner.
The Human Rights Council called on the High Commissioner to provide all necessary technical and logistical support to the National Commission of Inquiry, support equivalent to that provided to any commission of inquiry, to enable it to continue investigating allegations of violations and abuses committed by all parties to the conflict in Yemen, in line with international standards, and to submit its comprehensive report on human rights violations throughout Yemen, as soon as it becomes available.
The draft resolution noted with appreciation the work undertaken by the National Commission of Inquiry to date, despite the challenges it faced, and welcomed the progress it had made, such as regular field visits conducted throughout Yemen, consultations held with civil society organizations, and improved reporting on various types of human rights violations and abuses and violations of international humanitarian law by all parties to the conflict.
