Saudi Arabia and Egypt affirm their full support for the Yemeni Presidential Council and the importance of maintaining the security of the Red Sea

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Arab Republic of Egypt renewed their full support for the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, and stressed the need to maintain the security and stability of the Red Sea.

This came in a joint statement at the conclusion of the visit of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to Cairo, during which he met with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and held official talks that touched on bilateral relations and developments in the region, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

According to the statement, the two sides affirmed their full support for the Presidential Leadership Council in the Republic of Yemen, and the importance of full support for international and regional efforts to reach a comprehensive political solution to the Yemeni crisis, in a way that guarantees the unity and stability of their country for the brotherly Yemeni people.

The two sides also stressed the importance of the Houthis engaging positively with efforts aimed at ending the Yemeni crisis, and seriously dealing with peace initiatives and efforts.

Regarding the situation in the Red Sea, the two sides stressed the importance of maintaining the security and stability of the Red Sea region, where freedom of navigation is an international requirement due to its connection to the interests of the entire world, and the necessity of sparing it from any risks or threats that affect regional and international security and peace, global trade movement and the international economy.

The Egyptian side praised the Kingdom's efforts and numerous initiatives aimed at encouraging dialogue and reconciliation between the Yemeni parties, and its role in providing and facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid to all regions of Yemen.

For its part, the Saudi side praised the Egyptian role in reducing escalation in the region and supporting efforts for a comprehensive settlement of the Yemeni crisis in a way that meets the aspirations of the Yemeni people.
