The National Bloc of Political Parties and Components called for resuming political life and enhancing media freedoms in all governorates, while mobilizing efforts to confront the Houthi coup and reject Iranian interference in Yemen.
This came in a speech by Dr. Ahmed Obaid bin Dagher, during his chairing of a meeting of the Supreme Council of the bloc, yesterday, Tuesday, which discussed the specific agenda and the most prominent national and political issues, according to a statement by the bloc published by bin Dagher on his Facebook page.
In his speech, Bin Dagher stressed the importance of the current stage and the necessity of strengthening joint action to achieve national goals, stressing the importance of preparing a comprehensive political program for the bloc that covers various societal issues and enhances its role as an effective entity to achieve the desired change.
He also stressed the need to release public freedoms, open the political arena for democratic action, and respect political pluralism as one of the foundations of the political system.
The meeting discussed the economic collapse and the lack of basic services that burdened citizens. The Executive Authority was tasked with preparing a realistic study that includes practical solutions to these crises, to be submitted to the Executive Authority to address them.
The meeting also discussed the role of political parties and components as forces carrying the national project, and stressed the importance of building on previous experiences and presenting a new model for effective and independent political work.
At the end of the meeting, the Council approved referring the political program’s guidelines to the Executive Authority for preparation, which include commitment to the Constitution and the three references, supporting democracy and restoring the state, addressing economic crises, unifying military decisions, protecting public freedoms, strengthening national identity, and equal citizenship, while emphasizing placing humanitarian and economic issues related to citizens’ concerns at the top of priorities.
