A torch lighting ceremony was held at our country’s embassy in Kuala Lumpur on the occasion of the 62nd and 61st anniversaries of the Yemeni revolution, September 26 and October 14, yesterday evening, with the torch lighting amidst the chants of the Yemeni community members who expressed their belonging to the revolution and the Republic of Yemen.
In his speech, His Excellency the Ambassador of our country to Malaysia, Dr. Adel Bahumaid, said: “Today we celebrate the anniversary of the Yemeni revolution of September 26 and October 14, renewing our commitment to its principles and values, and calling on our political leadership to launch a national project in the field of education that enhances our national identity and reshapes the awareness of our future generations.”
He added that on this anniversary, every Yemeni should be proudly inspired by the struggles of the revolution's leaders and heroes and the sacrifices they made to combat reactionism and occupation, adding that this occasion reminds us to raise our heads, looking forward to the steadfastness of the Yemenis and their sacrifices in confronting the remnants of the Imamate and colonialism.
Bahumid pointed out that the time has come to unify the efforts of the national forces towards liberation from the shackles of priesthood and subordination, calling on the Presidential Leadership Council to work to achieve the goals of the Yemeni revolution and embody the aspirations of the Yemenis.
The ceremony was attended by members of the diplomatic mission at the embassy, the head and members of the administrative body of the community, the head and members of the leadership of the Yemeni Students Union in Malaysia, in addition to a large gathering of community dignitaries, academics, workers, students and Yemeni businessmen in Malaysia.
Lighting the torch is an annual tradition carried out by the embassy. This celebration is part of a series of national events officially sponsored by the Yemeni embassy, while the Yemenis group sponsors it in the media, and it is organized by the Yemeni community and the Yemeni Students Union in Malaysia.
