Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, on Saturday, assigned the Central Agency for Control and Accounting to review and examine all the work of the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, against the backdrop of what was recently raised about the disappearance of checks, and the escalating dispute between the Director of the Prime Minister’s Office and the Secretary-General of the Council.
According to the official Saba news agency, Bin Mubarak requested in a memorandum addressed to the head of the Central Organization for Control and Accounting to assign a team of specialists to investigate what was recently raised by the Secretary-General regarding the checks issued, their cancellation or disappearance, as well as the incident of publishing official documents via social media.
The Prime Minister stressed the need to submit the results urgently.
Late in the week, special sources revealed to the “From the Other Side” program, which is broadcast on the “Yemeni Youth” channel, an administrative conflict within the Council of Ministers, between the Director of the Prime Minister’s Office and the Secretary-General of the Council, which developed over the past few days.
The sources stated that the conflict began between the Director of the Prime Minister's Office, Anis Baharitha, and the Secretary-General of the Council, Mutee Damaj, over the disappearance of financial checks from the General Secretariat.
According to the sources, the checks were cashed by Anis Baharitha, without being signed by the Secretary-General of the Council, Mutee Damaj, which prompted the latter to form a committee to investigate this matter.
The sources said that while the committee was doing its work, Anis Baharitha stormed the meeting, verbally abused Secretary-General Damaj, and took the two people who were being investigated out of the room and took them in his car. This information was confirmed by a memorandum from the Secretary-General of the Council to the Prime Minister that was published on social media.
The sources indicated that the member of the Presidential Leadership Council, Abdullah Al-Alimi, summoned Anis Baharitha and Mutee Damaj to reconcile and resolve the dispute between them amicably, but the dispute between them developed.
