Hodeidah: Yemen Youth Net - Special
The Yemeni Bar Association in Al Hudaydah Governorate (western Yemen) pledged on Tuesday to hold accountable the perpetrators of kidnapping crimes from the intelligence service and militia security personnel in the governorate, after a series of kidnappings they carried out against a number of members of the association.
The statement of the Syndicate Council in Hodeidah vowed that it would take all necessary measures against all those responsible for and directly involved in the kidnapping crime.
The Syndicate Council said in a statement, a copy of which was obtained by "Yemeni Youth Net", that it condemns the crime of kidnapping the Syndicate members: (Abdul Raqib Ali Al-Saddar, Ahmed Abdullah Barih, Jamil Muhammad Al-Qudsi, Mansour Al-Badji, and Majed Aqil Al-Maqtari) during the past few days.
The union's statement stressed that it, with all its members, condemns the Houthi crimes that violate the immunity of the lawyer, which he enjoys according to the law, and which may not be arrested except by order of the Public Prosecution and in the presence of a representative of the union.
The union called on all professional and human rights organizations and unions to stand together against these attacks. It demanded the immediate release of the kidnapped persons, holding those who kidnapped and arrested them accountable as soon as possible, and imposing legal punishment on the Houthi perpetrators.
The statement of the Hodeidah Syndicate Council also called on all members of the syndicate to prepare for all peaceful activities that it will undertake, if the kidnapped are not released, and the leaders of the Houthi intelligence there are not held accountable.
Meanwhile, the kidnapped union member in Al Hudaydah Governorate refused to pledge to refrain from commemorating the September 26 Revolution in exchange for his release.
Abdul Majeed Sabra, the detainees' defense lawyer in Sanaa, said late Tuesday that lawyer Mansour Al-Badji, a prominent member of the Yemeni Bar Association in Hodeidah, had rejected a Houthi request to refrain from celebrating and commemorating the September 26 Revolution Day in exchange for his release.
A week ago, the Houthi militia kidnapped lawyer Al-Badji and threw him into its prisons in Hodeidah for inviting dozens of Yemeni lawyers to celebrate the anniversary of the revolution.
The Houthi militia also kidnapped dozens of people in Hodeidah, Sana'a, Amran, Ibb, Dhamar and Hajjah as a result of their preparations to celebrate the anniversary of the glorious September Revolution.
