Adnan Al-Adini, a leader in the Yemeni Congregation for Reform Party, stressed that revealing the fate of those forcibly disappeared, most notably "Mohammed Qahtan" - a member of the Supreme Council for Reform - is the basic pillar for building confidence in any peace process.

This came in an article published by Al-Adini - who is the deputy head of the media department of the Islah Party - on his page on the "X" platform, on the occasion of the International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances, which falls on August 30 of each year.

The Islah leader renewed his call to "all concerned parties, the international community, human rights activists, civil society, and the United Nations to move effectively and seriously to end this tragedy, and to pressure the Houthis to reveal the fate of the disappeared and release them."

Al-Adini said, "On the International Day of Victims of Enforced Disappearances, the political leader and member of the Supreme Reform Commission, Mr. Mohammed Mohammed Qahtan, is present as a witness to the inhuman nature and criminal behavior practiced by the Houthi militias, which have continued to hide him for 10 years, despite all the efforts of international and local mediation and rounds of negotiations, but they refuse to even allow a phone call or a visit."

He added: "Like Qahtan, hundreds of Yemeni youth, thinkers and activists are languishing in the Houthis' secret and dark prisons. Recently, the group has added the kidnapping of dozens of male and female citizens, as the enforced disappearance practiced by the group stands out as a heinous phenomenon that reflects the Houthis' perspective on the Yemeni person."

Al-Adini said: “In its (the Houthi militia’s) conflict with the people, individuals are forcibly disappeared, kidnapped from their homes, from the streets, and deprived of their most basic human rights, along with their families from Yemeni families in various governorates, which adds further complexity to the worsening humanitarian crisis in Yemen.”

The Islah leader Adnan Al-Adini stressed that "these violations constitute a blatant violation of human rights, Islamic values, laws and customs, to the extent that the Houthi militias surpass the record of practices of armed groups."
