Division over US presidential election affects Yemeni community in Michigan

Michigan: Yemen Youth Net
Signs of division in the Yemeni community in the US state of Michigan have begun to appear publicly regarding the US presidential elections scheduled to be held on November 5.
This came after differences in the positions of Hamtramck Mayor Amir Ghaleb and Michigan State Representative Ibrahim Ayash regarding their candidates for the US presidency, as the former announced his support for Republican candidate Donald Trump, while the latter does not support him.
Sources in the Yemeni community explained that the difference in position between the two men will lead to a division in the Yemeni community and a major polarization process within its ranks.
Earlier yesterday evening, Amir Ghaleb announced, in a statement on his Facebook page, his support for Trump, describing him as a “man of principles,” and indicating that he is “the right choice for this critical period,” days after receiving an invitation from Trump and meeting with him.
While Ibrahim Ayash sees Trump as "unprincipled and a threat to many societies," according to the Yemenis of America website.
It is noteworthy that the majority of Yemeni and Arab votes in America went to President Biden in the 2020 elections, in protest against Trump's extremist policy against Arabs and immigrants.
The upcoming presidential elections are being contested by former Republican US President Donald Trump and current Vice President Kamala Harris.
