Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, Dr. Rashad Muhammad Al-Alimi, stressed today, Tuesday, that the best way to repay the kindness of Taiz Governorate is complete liberation, pointing to its pivotal role in the national equation as a maker of transformations, a cradle of change, and an incubator for movements of struggle and national liberation in the north and south.
This came during a general meeting of the President of the Presidential Leadership Council, along with the Council members Dr. Abdullah Al-Alimi and Sheikh Othman Majli, with the leadership of the local authority and the political, civil, women's and youth components in Taiz Governorate today, Tuesday, at Taiz University, according to the Yemeni News Agency "Saba".
President Al-Alimi said that Taiz, which gave birth to Professor Al-Naaman and his great companions, men and women, and embraced Al-Zubairi, Ali Abdul-Mughni, Al-Shaabi, Labouza, and Badib, and was a starting point for defending Sana’a in the north, and a refuge and a non-stop supply line for the complete liberation in the south, will remain immortal in the national memory as a maker of transformations, a cradle of change, a capital of steadfastness, and rejection of racism and tyranny.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council asked the attendees to stand for a minute of silence for the souls of the martyrs who sacrificed their blood cheaply in defense of freedom and the republican system, expressing the great welcome they received during the visit from the people of Taiz Governorate along the way to the dear capital of the governorate.
Al-Alimi said, "We are here today, along with my brothers, the members of the council, and the accompanying ministerial and advisory team, to salute the steadfastness of the heroes and sons of this governorate in defending the republic, freedom, dignity, and the values of justice and equality in the face of the Imami project that our people buried seven decades ago."
The President pointed out that Taiz, which was known for its goddess of fertility, a shrine of love, and an immortal story, is also glory, the coast, the ancient port, the most prominent capital of a state of law in medieval history, the most immortal in memory, the most famous, the most generous, and the most sacrificed.
He also mentioned that Taiz is the stronghold of the greatest follower who gave us the first ideal idea for defeating racism, and the Imamate through the approach of his Rasulid state, which left a rich legacy of evidence filled with schools, fortresses, and scholars, in exchange for blood and gunpowder, and a history of conquest and gain that the Imamis, ancient and modern, bequeathed to us.
He added, "The revolutionaries of September and October passed through here together, including the three victors in the epic of the seventies: Judge Al-Eryani, Lieutenant General Al-Omari, and Captain Abdul Raqib Abdul Wahab. The martyr Ahmed Saif Al-Yafei also embodied the values of solidarity between the north and the south in the best way."
He continued: "And here today, in this hall, their sons and grandchildren meet again from all over Yemen, affirming that they are all in another legendary epic, and they have no choice but victory and building a just federal state."
The President explained that it is difficult to give Taiz Governorate its due, as it had the merit, along with the rest of the sons of the liberated governorates, in deterring the Imami project, and keeping the flame of change burning in hearts and corners, pointing out that the best way to repay this governorate is complete liberation, and to make it, as it has always been, a starting point for salvation from the forces of tyranny, colonialism, and priesthood in all parts of the country.
He considered that this is the responsibility and priority that the people of Taiz have accepted throughout the ages, and no matter what falsehoods are said about their national movement, it will remain an example of selflessness and a genuine tendency towards the modern state that all Yemenis deserve.
The Chairman of the Leadership Council touched on the challenges and concerns that occupy the people of the governorate, foremost among which are electricity, water, and all basic services. However, he stressed that the sustainability of these services will only be achieved by returning our exhausted country to its natural path... a liberated, stable country, and an active member of its Gulf, Arab, and international organizations.
He expressed his confidence that the people of Taiz cannot trade freedom and equal citizenship for false propaganda of any kind, and that an initiative here or there cannot distract them from the suffering of our people in areas controlled by militias, shackled by the chains of oppression and racism after nearly seven decades of the great September birth.
The President also referred to all the initiatives presented by the Presidential Leadership Council and the government to push the militias to make peace, saying, "But we did not find anything in common with them to advance on this path, as they have nothing but war and destruction as a zero-sum option."
Al-Alimi stressed that supporting the steadfastness of this governorate, alleviating the suffering of its people, creating job opportunities, and improving its services, including developing the education system, developing its local resources, and caring for the families of martyrs and the wounded, will remain a top priority at all levels.
He pointed out that based on these principles, this visit began with laying the foundation stone for the Martyrs' Memorial, which commemorates the sacrifices of the sons of this proud province and all the martyrs of the Republic, in addition to inaugurating more than 260 vital projects at the expense of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the local authority in various fields.
The President briefed the leaders and components of Taiz on the difficulties and challenges regarding the limited opportunities to achieve all the legitimate ambitions and aspirations of the people of Taiz Governorate and the rest of the liberated governorates, especially with regard to the strategic projects that were planned to be launched before the terrorist Houthi militias launched their destructive attacks on our oil facilities, which caused the state treasury to lose about 70 percent of its main resources.
He said, "Therefore, the projects that we are launching or laying the foundation stone for today are mostly supported by Saudi Arabia, most notably the colleges of medicine, nursing, and pharmacy, the oncology center, the city's power station with a capacity of 30 megawatts, in addition to the strategic Turbah-Lahj road, the teaching hospital, and an upcoming college of dentistry, in addition to those projects that the United Arab Emirates is implementing in the western coastal directorates of the governorate."
In this context, he noted the generous grant from the Kingdom, which played a decisive role in continuing to pay employees’ salaries, at a time when the government is working to improve its own resources towards the goal of self-reliance and reducing the dominance of oil revenues over the state’s general budget revenues, which, with the support of brothers and friends, is achieving good progress in this direction.
At the end of his speech, the President renewed his thanks and appreciation to the leadership of the local authority and all the activities in the governorate for their well-known role in keeping the voice of its people high, especially the political components, and the Reconciliation and Social Peace Committee, which set an example to be emulated in promoting the values of tolerance and upholding the public interest, as well as the personalities, social dignitaries, men of justice, women and youth who have always carried the torches of change and creativity in resisting war and enhancing opportunities for steadfastness.
Al-Alimi said, "The governorate appeared during this visit at its appropriate level, and we hope that this will not be a temporary or seasonal procedure, but rather a sustainable work program in various sectors," stressing that the Presidential Leadership Council and the government will monitor the performance of the local authority, including at the directorate level, during the next six months and decide what is necessary to correct the performance and enhance the presence of state institutions.
The Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council also pledged to work to respond to the calls of the wounded through radical solutions that befit their precious sacrifices for the sake of the glory and pride of our country, pointing to his directives to evacuate civilian institutions of armed manifestations, including the Technical Institute and the Falcon Club, and to study the possibility of renting citizens' homes in the contact areas, in a way that ensures their safety and the protection of their private property to the fullest extent.
He also referred to his directives to prepare technical studies to rely on renewable energy, especially in the health and agricultural sectors, by benefiting from the experience supported by the UAE, encouraging universities to shift towards technical and qualitative specializations, including artificial intelligence, and communications and information systems.
Al-Alimi called on the political and civil forces to further cooperate, enhance their partnerships, and devote themselves to the battle of the Yemeni people as a broad title and a code of honor for the next stage, stressing his confidence that the people of Taiz, who are burdened with the pains of this governorate, will be highly responsible, and will rise above side disputes, and free themselves from being framed as a society more susceptible to division and discord, and will recall at every moment the words of God Almighty: ((And do not dispute and [thus] lose courage and your strength departs.))
