President Al-Alimi arrives in Cairo to participate in the Urban Forum - Saba Net
Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Al-Alimi, arrived late yesterday evening in the Arab Republic of Egypt to participate in the opening of the twelfth edition of the World Urban Forum, which kicks off in Cairo today, Monday, under the auspices of the United Nations.
The Yemeni News Agency (Saba) reported that President Al-Alimi will deliver a speech to the forum in which he will review local development efforts, and the structural and financial pressures and challenges imposed by the terrorist Houthi militias’ war on the Yemeni people, and the massive destruction it has caused to infrastructure and basic services, and the forced displacement of millions of Yemenis far from their homes.
It will also address the effects of climate change and its disastrous repercussions, the role of regional allies and international partners in supporting reconstruction efforts, and the government’s plans in the housing and service aspects and responding to the needs required to mitigate the effects of climate change and keep pace with global efforts aimed at achieving sustainable development goals.
The forum, which this year has registered around thirty thousand participants, is held under the slogan: “Everything starts locally – let’s work together for sustainable cities and communities,” with the aim of promoting dialogue on how to make cities more inclusive, resilient and sustainable, by sharing experiences and ideas from various parties, including governments, civil society, the private sector, and experts and consultants in all fields.
