A man set himself on fire near the Israeli Consulate General in Boston, USA, in protest against the "genocide" being committed by Israel in Gaza.
Boston police said in a statement on Saturday, September 14, 2024, that the arson incident occurred last Wednesday evening.
The police said that the person who set himself on fire was seriously injured and was taken to Massachusetts Hospital, without revealing the fate of the person, whether he died or not.
The police did not reveal details about the identity of the person who set himself on fire and the reason for doing so, while the investigation into the incident continues.
In turn, local media reported that the incident took place in front of the Four Seasons Hotel on the street where the Israeli Consulate General in Boston is located.
Surveillance camera footage showed a man setting himself on fire after walking in front of the hotel for a while, and people near the scene rushed to put out the fire.

In turn, Jefferson Zapata, a witness, told a local channel that the person poured gasoline on himself before setting himself on fire.
Zapata added that he and those in the ocean poured water on the burning man, in an attempt to extinguish the raging fire.
Social media accounts circulated footage of a person identifying himself as “Matt Nelson,” who said in a statement posted on his personal account: “My name is Matt Nelson and I am about to participate in a violent protest.”
"We are all guilty of the ongoing genocide in Gaza," he added.
With full American support, Israel has been waging a devastating war on Gaza since October 7, 2023, leaving more than 136,000 Palestinians dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing, amid massive destruction and deadly famine.
In contempt of the international community, Israel continues this war, ignoring the UN Security Council resolution to stop it immediately, and the International Court of Justice’s orders to take measures to prevent acts of genocide and to improve the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza.
