Walkie-talkie is a handheld wireless communication device that relies on sending and receiving radio waves that are translated into voice messages. Its use requires transmission and reception towers that provide it with the necessary coverage and signal.

Walkie Talkie is a term derived from two English verbs: “ walk ” and “ talk .” This means that they are devices that can be carried, moved, and used to talk.

This was a revolutionary invention before World War II, during which Motorola developed a radio communication unit that soldiers could carry and talk on the move, whereas before such equipment was bulky, carried on vehicles, and required what was known as "Morris" code to communicate.

The portable walkie-talkie became an indispensable tool in World War II and the wars that followed, because it facilitated effective and rapid communication, in all places and under all circumstances.

The first invention of the walkie-talkie dates back to 1937, when Canadian physicist Donald Hingis was the first to invent the dual radio system (using two devices to send and receive radio waves between them).

Walkie-talkies operate on radio frequencies and do not communicate over the Internet. They are easy to use because they are portable, and have evolved in size to the point that some are smaller than some cell phones.

Walkie-talkies can operate and receive waves within a range of 30 to 45 kilometers, and are equipped with long-lasting batteries that can operate for months without recharging.

Walkie-talkies can be tracked, but through a difficult and complex technique that requires advanced equipment that can intercept and analyze radio waves.

In addition to the military field, it is used by security companies, ambulance and emergency medical teams, and construction crews on large projects.
