Flood damage in displacement camps in Hajjah/Executive Unit

A government report revealed that nearly two thousand displaced families were affected by the rains and torrents that struck last weekend the camps for the displaced in the liberated districts of Hajjah Governorate, northwest of Yemen.

The Executive Unit for the Management of Displaced Persons' Camps ( EXUIDPS ) said in a report issued on Saturday that a total of 1,985 families were affected by the heavy rains and torrential rains witnessed by the displaced camps in a number of districts of Hajjah Governorate, during the past Thursday and Friday.

The report added that the damage included a group of displacement camps located in the districts of Haradh, Midi, Hiran, and Abs, where heavy rains and strong winds led to the uprooting of tents and the destruction of food supplies.

It indicated that it is continuously working to follow up on the conditions of those affected in the governorate, including the affected sites and camps.

The Executive Unit called on international and local non-governmental organizations to quickly provide emergency assistance to affected families, through key sectors such as food aid, shelter, non-food items, and water, sanitation and hygiene services.

It also stressed the need for all humanitarian organizations working in these districts to provide emergency stocks to respond efficiently and effectively to such emergency situations, and to activate the rapid response mechanism to respond to emergency situations.
