A Houthi leader assaulted a vegetable stall owner in the city of Ibb (central Yemen), amid a broad Houthi campaign against vendors and stall owners.

Activists on social media circulated a video recording showing a Houthi leader named "Mohammed Hamid Al-Mutawakel" assaulting a vegetable stall owner in the central market in the city of Ibb.

The video showed Al-Mutawakkil, who was appointed by the militia as director of the northern section, assaulting Al-Khudari, Fayez Saleh Al-Amari, who hails from the Ibb countryside directorate, pushing him in a humiliating manner, throwing his crutch, brandishing a weapon in his face, and threatening him with imprisonment.

In another recording, Al-Amari explained that the Houthi leader assaulted him, used foul language towards him, brandished a weapon at him, and imprisoned him for an hour inside the police station, without taking into account his health condition, as he suffers from heart problems and a herniated disc.

This comes at a time when the militia has been continuing its campaign of widespread violations for weeks against street vendors and peddlers in the city of Ibb, forcing them to move to a street that it has allocated for them in exchange for paying monthly rents to it. These measures have caused the death of one vendor from grief and pushed dozens of vendors to the unemployment sidewalk.
