Informed sources said that the Emirati Khalifa Foundation, which is active in the Socotra Archipelago Governorate, is seeking to seize a large area of Socotra Airport land, in agreement with the Transitional Governor of the Governorate, Raafat Al-Thaqali.
The sources explained to "Yemeni Youth Net" that the Undersecretary of Socotra Governorate, Raed Al-Jaribi, handed over the project of the Socotra Airport fence and gate to the Khalifa Foundation, represented by the contractor "Omar Al-Zubaidi", the day before yesterday, Wednesday, in the presence of the Commander of the Security Belt "Mohammed Al-Farahy" and the Chief of Staff of the First Marine Infantry Brigade "Mohsen Al-Dhali".
The sources added that the wall project is in violation of the airport plan, and that it aims to seize a large area of land for the benefit of the Emirati Khalifa Foundation.
She pointed out that the area of the airport fence around the runway, according to the plan, is estimated at about 4 km long and half a km wide, without the halls and the management of the Meteorology and Civil Aviation Authority, but they want to cut off a large area of it for the benefit of the Emirati institution (without mentioning the area of land that they want to cut off).
The sources noted that the airport's general manager objected to the inauguration and presented them with reports showing the drawings and borders of the airport and the fence, but they ignored the matter and said that they were only inaugurating the work.
