IOM: 34 Yemeni families displaced during the past week

The International Organization for Migration announced the displacement of 34 Yemeni families during the past week for reasons related to economic conditions and security concerns.

The organization said in its weekly report that its displacement matrix monitored the displacement of 34 families, representing 204 people, during the period from October 13 to 19.

She explained that the displacement cases originated from Hodeidah, with 17 families, including 7 internal displacement cases, while 10 families settled in Marib, Taiz with 15 families, including 5 internal displacement cases, while 10 families moved to Marib, and Sana'a with 2 families moving to Marib.

The organization stated that economic reasons related to the conflict were the reason for the displacement of 18 families, representing 53 percent of the total displaced, followed by reasons of safety and security as a result of the conflict, with 16 families, representing 47 percent of the displaced.

She pointed out that the total number of displaced persons throughout the country, during the period from January 1 to October 19, amounted to 2,904 families (17,424 individuals).
