Al Jawf: Yemen Youth Net
A government report revealed, on Wednesday, that it monitored about six thousand violations committed by the terrorist Houthi militia in Al-Jawf Governorate (northeast of Yemen), during the first half of this year.
The Rights and Media Committee in Al-Jawf Governorate said in a report, a copy of which was received by "Yemeni Youth Net", that it had monitored 5,963 violations committed by the Houthi militia against citizens in the governorate during the period from January 1 to June 30, 2024 AD.
According to the report, the violations were distributed between (direct killing, injury, killing by mines, disappearance, forced displacement, siege, and levies), among others.
The report stated that the militia committed 30 cases of killing and wounding civilians, including 12 direct killings, 9 cases of killing by mines, and the same number of injuries resulting from mines during the reporting period.
The report monitored the militia's kidnapping of 25 people, the enforced disappearance of citizens, and the destruction of 5 vehicles with direct bullets or mines.
According to the report, the remaining violations were distributed between the forced displacement of 5,900 families, the imposition of taxes, price manipulation, and abuses at checkpoints affiliated with the Houthi militia.
The report also addressed the militia's military campaigns in Al-Hazm and Al-Khalq, and the siege campaigns it imposed on several areas during the reporting period, and the accompanying terrorizing of children and women.
The Deputy Governor of Al-Jawf and Chairman of the Rights and Media Committee, Dr. Saleh Jamala, called on international and local organizations concerned with human rights to condemn the Houthi violations against the people of Al-Jawf and exert pressure to stop them.
Jamala explained that the mines planted by the Houthi militia earlier continue to claim the lives of civilians in Al-Jawf Governorate, and the militia refuses to remove them despite receiving external grants under this name, which is evidence of disregard for the lives of citizens.
