Last night, the terrorist Houthi militia kidnapped a media activist in Ibb Governorate (central Yemen) and took him to an unknown location.

Local residents said that Houthi elements in civilian clothes, riding in a white Prado, kidnapped activist Mohammed Omar Al-Kathiri last night from in front of his house in the lower cemetery in the old city of Ibb.

For his part, activist Ibrahim Asqeen pointed out that Al-Kathiri’s kidnapping came as a result of a post he wrote a few days ago - before deleting it later - in which he confirmed that: “He will not celebrate the birth of the Prophet so that he will not be considered a hypocrite, and that he will only celebrate the anniversary of the September 26 Revolution.”

Al-Kathiri's kidnapping coincided with a campaign of Houthi kidnappings and threats against activists in the governorate at the beginning of September, when Yemenis celebrate the anniversary of the glorious September 26 Revolution. A few days ago, the militia kidnapped political activist Radad Al-Hudhaifi, while a number of media activists received calls from security and intelligence elements affiliated with the militia warning them against celebrating the glorious September 26 Revolution.

At the end of last week, educational sources revealed that the Houthi supervisor in the governorate met with the principals of girls’ schools in the city of Ibb, and issued strict directives to prevent any celebrations of the glorious September Revolution and threatened violations with punitive measures.
