The Coast Guard forces in the city of Mokha were able to seize large shipments of smuggled drugs of unknown origin that were on board a number of sea boats, during an attempt to introduce them into the Yemeni markets illegally.
A source in the Taiz branch of the Supreme Authority for Medicines and Medical Supplies said that the seized quantity is estimated at more than "five million tablets and capsules of controlled medicine" that are prohibited from being sold in the pharmaceutical market, except with a special medical prescription, in addition to the seizure of "240,000" capsules of sexual stimulants that violate the circular of the Supreme Authority for Medicines, which prohibits their sale because they contain substances harmful to health.
The source pointed out that a specialized team from the Authority’s branch inspected the medicines and submitted a report on their nature after they were seized in the warehouses of the Mokha port in preparation for their destruction, praising the great efforts made by the Coast Guard forces in preventing the smuggling of medicines and medical supplies, due to their constant concern for the lives of citizens and their drug security, which they have made a top priority.
