The United Nations Mission to support the Hodeidah Agreement (UNMHA) said it is determined to expand its activities and presence throughout the governorate, after renewing its mandate, to support the implementation of the Hodeidah Agreement.

The mission confirmed in a statement published on its website its intention to expand its operations throughout Al Hudaydah Governorate to enhance its monitoring responsibilities after renewing its mandate under Security Council Resolution No. (2742) dated July 8, 2024.

She indicated that she is actively exploring opportunities to expand her activities and presence in either Al Khawkhah or Hays Directorate.

She stressed that this expansion aims to "strengthen its commitment to the people of Al Hudaydah Governorate and enhance its participation with the two parties to monitor and support the implementation of the Stockholm Agreement effectively in line with relevant Security Council resolutions."

It is noteworthy that the UNMHA mission was established following the Stockholm Agreement signed between the government and the Houthis in December 2018, with the aim of supporting the immediate implementation of the ceasefire in Hodeidah.
