142 people killed and injured in traffic accidents in liberated areas in half a month

142 people were killed and injured in traffic accidents in areas under the control of the legitimate government during the first half of this month.

The Security Media Center of the Ministry of Interior said that 20 people died and 122 others were injured, 57 of whom were described as "serious", as a result of traffic accidents during the period from August 1 to 15.

He added that the roads of the liberated areas witnessed 154 traffic accidents during the period, including 104 vehicle collisions, 37 pedestrian run-over accidents, 10 vehicle rollover accidents, two collisions with a fixed object, and one falling from a vehicle.

The statistics attributed the causes of accidents to "drivers violating the rules, laws and traffic etiquette, exceeding the speed limit and load limit, wrong and dangerous overtaking, being distracted by things other than the road, ignoring maintaining the distances between and between vehicles, repeatedly stopping on the street, neglecting periodic maintenance of the vehicle and ensuring its technical suitability, especially the converted European vehicles, using poor spare parts, reckless driving of bicycles, neglecting pedestrians, the technical suitability of the roads and technical and technological malfunctions of the vehicle."
